Miami Film Festival 2026
Honeyjoon
One of the standout films I had the opportunity to cover at this year’s Miami Film Festival was HoneyJoon, where I sat down with writer and director Lilian T. Mehrel to discuss the film and its growing success. HoneyJoon premiered at the Tribeca Festival and won the prestigious Tribeca AT&T Untold Stories Award, receiving $1 million in funding. Since its premiere, the film has earned multiple audience and best feature awards, gained international attention for its star-studded cast, and was recognized by Vogue as one of the standout films to watch. Described as “a surprisingly sexy, darkly funny, emotional rollercoaster,” the film follows June and her Persian-British mother, Lela, as they travel to the romantic Azores Islands for a grief anniversary while navigating their contrasting ways of coping with loss. Along the way, a philosophical surfer guides them through an unforgettable journey filled with emotion, healing, humor, and flirtation. HoneyJoon is a story for anyone living with loss, anyone searching for freedom within themselves, and anyone who has ever tried and failed to flirt. While HoneyJoon is currently continuing its festival run, audiences can stay tuned for future streaming and release announcements through the film’s official platforms. Stockholm
During the 2026 Miami Film Festival, I had the opportunity to speak with actress Jenna Harwood about the powerful short film Stockholm, with the full feature film soon to come. Jenna stars as Claire, a bright but restless 25-year-old whose curiosity about kink and submission leads her into a dangerous relationship with Leo, a charismatic older man she meets through a dating app. What begins as exploration quickly spirals into psychological captivity, blurring the line between coercion and desire. Months later, Claire returns to the Bushwick apartment she once shared with her best friend, Skye, haunted by her experiences and struggling to reconnect with reality while still feeling pulled toward the dark dynamic she escaped. Told through fractured timelines of present-day recovery and flashbacks of captivity, Stockholm explores friendship, sexuality, trauma, and the complex psychology of power, offering a chilling and emotional look at survival, surrender, and the blurred meaning of freedom. Stockholm was directed by Kaitlyn Mikayla, written by Lily Greenwald, Jenna Harwood, and Mikayla, and stars Josh Davis alongside Greenwald and Harwood. Eva y Adan en Miami
I had the opportunity to interview the cast of Eva y Adán en Miami at the historic Olympia Theater during the 2026 Miami Film Festival, where the film made its world premiere. Eva y Adán en Miami is a Spanish-language romantic comedy that follows an Uber driver and a stranded tourist who unexpectedly connect while exploring the city together. What begins as a fun and adventurous tour through Miami quickly turns chaotic when their jealous exes begin chasing them all over town. The film brings together romance, comedy, and the vibrant energy of Miami, making it a standout experience at the festival. The production team for Eva y Adán en Miami is an international co-production between El Sueño Eterno Films(Spain), Vilaplana Films, We Love Entertainment, and VIP 2000 TV. Audiences can now stream Eva y Adán en Miami on Amazon Prime Video, Roku, and ViX. Find more about Eva y Adan en Miami on @VIP2000tv. Caterpillar
I had the opportunity to interview David Taylor from the documentary Caterpillar, created by Lisa Mandelup, where we discussed his life during and after undergoing an eye color-changing procedure. Taylor traveled to India to have the cosmetic procedure done through a company called BrightOcular, hoping to permanently change his eye color. However, complications during the procedure led to serious physical and emotional challenges, eventually forcing him to have the artificial eye color lenses completely removed in order to regain his health and sense of well-being. The documentary explores his deeply personal journey through identity, self-image, pain, recovery, and healing after the life-changing experience. Audiences can watch Caterpillar on Netflix.
